A part of the Orthodox Church in America, under His Beatitude Jonah, Archbishop of Washington, Metropolitan of all America and the Archdiocese of Canada under His Grace Irénée, Bishop of Quebec City and Administrator of Archdiocese of Canada. St. Herman's Orthodox Sobor is located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and is under the spiritual guidance of Archimandrite Alexander (Pihach), Fr. Vincent Lehr, Fr. Matthew Francis, Dn. Daniel Friesen and Dn. Jesse Isaac.

From December 11th to the 14th, 2011, His Beatitude Metropolitan Jonah visited Edmonton.

On December 11th the Divine Liturgy was celebrated, during which His Beatitude ordained Deacon Matthew Francis to the Holy Priesthood. The Liturgy was concelebrated by His Grace, Bishop Irénée, who ordained Subdeacon Jesse Isaac to the Holy Deaconate. At the end of the service, Archdiocesan Gramatas were given to Edward and Virginia Byfield, Gregory and Lydia Fedor and Lillian Trefan in recognition of their dedication to the parish. On December 12th and 13th Metropolitan Jonah celebrated Vigil and Divine Liturgy for out patronal feast day of St. Herman of Alaska. For Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude was joined again by His Grace Bishop Irénée, along with His Grace Bishop Iov. Also serving were fourteen priests from St. Herman's and other local parishes and three deacons. View a photo gallery of the feast day here.

On the evening of December 13th His Beatitude gave a lecture at St. Herman's entitled "Do Not React, Do Not Resent, Keep Inner Stillness - The Hope of An Orthodox Life". An audio recording of the lecture may be found here.

Also during his visit, His Beatitude visited Holy Trinity Parish, St. Barbara's Cathedral and took a tour to many of the rural parishes in the Edmonton area. Pictures of these events can be found on Metropolitan Jonah's page.

St Herman has registered with a charity funds management group called Canada Helps. This is an internet based organization that allows you to access any charity registered in their website and make a donation. The donations are made through secured credit card transactions and can be one time or monthly recurring donations. A recurring donation can be set to occur on the same day of each month.
