St. Herman's Orthodox Church in Edmonton is pleased to be presenting this powerful documentary at the Telus World of Science IMAX Theater, with two showings on February 1 and February 8, at 3:15 PM. Movie length is 1 hour 20 mins.

Where Are You, Adam? is a visually stunning and spiritually profound documentary that invites viewers into the hidden world of Mount Athos, the ancient monastic republic of the Eastern Orthodox Church. Through breathtaking cinematography and intimate access rarely granted to outsiders, the film follows the daily lives of monks in the Docheiariou Monastery as they pray, labor, and struggle toward inner transformation.

More than a portrait of monastic life, the film asks a universal question drawn from Scripture—“Where are you, Adam?”—calling each viewer to reflect on their own spiritual condition, identity, and relationship with God. In a noisy, distracted modern world, Where Are You, Adam? offers a quiet but powerful encounter with silence, repentance, and hope, revealing the timeless relevance of faith, humility, and the search for meaning.

The film centers around the wisdom of their Abbot Gregory, as he prayerfully endeavors to help the monks under his spiritual care to regain a state of humanity like Adam before the Fall.

This monastery was founded in the 10th century. Since that time, empires, states and rulers have emerged and fallen, while Mount Athos and its distinctive monasticism has outlived all of them, remaining practically unchanged for centuries. As a marked departure from Athonite practice, Abbot Gregory allowed the film-making crew to live within the monastery walls and film intimate scenes of daily life.

The IMAX theater has a maximum capacity of 180, so we are having two showings to give as many people as possible the opportunity to see this extraordinary film -- Sunday, Feb. 1 & 8, 3:15 PM.

Tickets are only $10.00 per adult and $8.00 for students (18 and under).
